“Despite Everything I Still Enjoy Music…”

claims Vacancy Records honcho Louise Fenton. “I previously had my e-mail hacked by another label, now my Paypal account has been broken into and someone changed the contact e-mail to another address unknown to me; so that I can’t sign in and I don’t know if anyone has placed any orders. I can’t sell online until that’s sorted and had to shut down the online store. I get hate-mail on a daily basis from people who haven’t received their APTBS box sets yet. The bands forget to plug their releases in interviews, which doesn’t matter anyway since they’ve all signed to other labels with more money and larger staffs. I don’t’ care. I just want everyone to be happy, even the hackers.”

Fenton feels all the tribulations are worth it to have something of quality to offer people, both the people who make music and the people who love to listen to it. “I’m not taking the easy route and making a bunch of cheap CDs that will only disappear underneath the carpet on someone’s passenger seat floorboard. Its never been about making a quick buck off these bands. Their art deserves more respect. That’s why we insist on heavy, collectible vinyl that can survive longer than the entire lifespan of most of the crowd we cater to anyway.”
